Willi Hoppe

A German artist from Hamburg, Germany
Willi Hoppe is someone I found a while ago on Flickr and have been saving till the right time, his work is violent, wonderfully intuitive and skillful. I love how each mark is given reverence and how natural all the paintings are. There is no gloss or finish, just humanity, its wonderful to view..

here is an interview with Willi for those who'd like to know a little more:

Saddo

A Romanian artist from Transilvania, now living in Bucharest, Romania
I found came across Saddo on Society6 where the little catchphrase on his profile is "fuck art" which tickled me because sometimes I very much feel the same way(not going to explain now though, maybe another time). Saddo is an explosion, his work is intense, gorgeous and created with obvious skill and exuberance. I love his colour pallet and his painting style, for me good graff does not allude to anything but instead just is(much the same as good art... in my opinion). Saddo just is and its wonderful.

geoffrey agrons

An American artist living Cape May, New Jersey
This week we have something a little different from the usual fare- some photography. Geoffrey Agrons see's things that many of us have only imagined and captures them with grace. I'm often blown away by how frequently he posts his mind blowing images on Society 6, you would think such shots only arise occasionally but he seems to find them everywhere he goes. They are quiet, beautiful places that seem to go on as far as the eye can see, I wish I could climb into each photograph and lie down in the sand, maybe there you would find true peace of mind.

Some of Geoffreys words from his website:
"I am a radiologist and self-taught photographer drawn from the darkened reading room towards a world suffused with natural light.

My current work concentrates on the peculiar beauty of coastal southern New Jersey; its interior pine barrens, flora, and fauna; and the overlooked rural communities of the Delaware Bay.  I am particularly interested in the ambiguous quality of everyday objects and structures encountered at the seaside between twilight and dawn, and the tension between the untamed wetlands and human expectations of permanence and control.  I have come to think of the images as "melancholigraphs".

Maya Bloch

An artist working in Tel Aviv, Israel
Today we have someone who sparked my imagination as soon as I saw her work. Her work is lucid, restrained and wonderfully painted. There is something both devasting and comforting lurking within her scenes, I love the variation of surface textures and how fabulously controlled it seems even though there is such fluidity in the painting. Its making me feel inspired looking at it now.
